Purpose & Mission
We simply want to make it easier for our nation’s builders to do their job in the most effective ways. Although they constitute only 10% of the surface area of a typical home, traditional windows are poor energy performers. Windows usually account for 30-40% of the heat loss in winter and often add to cooling peaks and discomfort in summer. And we’re on a mission to change that.
The PAWS collaborative includes government agencies and research organizations, regional energy efficiency groups, utilities, builders, and window-solutions manufacturers.
Through collaborative research and programs, PAWS aggregates market demand, reduces product cost, quantifies benefits, and accelerates the adoption of high-performance windows and window attachments.
This initiative will:
- Coordinate market transformation efforts across five initial priority areas and working groups.
- Share research, news, and updates across stakeholders, including progress on how individual partners are advancing the priorities of PAWS through their own ongoing efforts.
- Develop and maintain resources for partners to access in support of the PAWS mission and identify research gaps to move the advanced windows market forward.
