The Wise Window Hub, a program led by the Center for Energy and Environment, has announced a new funding opportunity aimed at transforming the residential window market in the Midwest.
With a focus on increasing energy efficiency, comfort, and thermal performance in homes across Minnesota, Illinois, and surrounding states, the initiative seeks to accelerate the availability of affordable, high-performance windows (HPWs). These windows, defined by a U-Factor of 0.22 or less—typically achieved through triple-pane glazing—are currently underrepresented in the market due to high costs and limited product options.
To address this gap, the Wise Window Hub is offering a total of $200,000 in funding to support window manufacturers operating in or distributing to the Midwest. The goal is to incentivize the development and production of builder-grade HPWs—products that meet high thermal performance standards while minimizing non-essential features to keep costs low.
This funding opportunity is designed to help manufacturers bring cost-effective, energy-efficient window solutions to scale, making it easier for builders to adopt HPWs in new and existing homes.
Interested manufacturers are encouraged to apply. Funding may be awarded to one or more applicants who meet the program’s criteria and demonstrate a commitment to expanding access to affordable, high-performance window technology.
